Guess this is to celebrate the 500th post(?), but really, it’s just an excuse to have more Tomu on tumblr.

Kozuki Wataru and Shirahane Yuri. Two of their last pair dances together, both filmed on Wataru’s last evening in Takarazuka.
(She should be renamed. Kozuki “What is this gravity you speak of” Wataru.)

I have recently fallen in love with 花組’s Ocean’s 11. Onto the list of “to get” stuff now!

Really love At the end of a long spring (長い春の果てに ), and this is a really cute scene with Natalie and Arnaud. Sakura Ichika, what an amazing voice you have.
Unpopular opinion perhaps but I felt that JIN was never a taidan-ish kind of show, despite it being used for KimuMimi’s taidan. It just doesn’t have a taidan feel for me, despite my never having seen it in full yet. So, yeah well, I’m neutral about Tsukigumi doing JIN again so soon after Yukigumi.
ETA: And to look at it in a more positive way, it could be because Yukigumi did such a great job on JIN that Zuka thinks it worthy enough to bring on a National Tour; to give people from other parts of Japan a chance to see it too. So if you look at it that way, its to Yukigumi’s credit that JIN is being repeated.
Yes, that’s rather what I’ve been thinking - after the worries I’ve seen in fandom about whether Kimu’s shows were selling well enough isn’t it great that her show was so appreciated that Hankyu felt the need to bring it back so soon?
(Also I am selfishly glad to see my troupe do nihonmono because I like them, and to do a Bakumatsu-related show because this is a period I know somewhat)
I don’t know about the taidan stuff because I’ve not yet seen the show, but bringing it back so quickly after she left could equally spread the impression of ‘let’s see if the audience actually like/go to see this show if we have a different cast/top star’. Especially since it’s Tsuki doing it, who have a large fanbase (or seems that way anyway).
All valid points, and I agree that re-staging Jin could be a testament to how well the play was received the first time. There are moments in Jin that feel very much like a taidan show with Jin befriending an entire town and then having him leave that era behind when he was pulled back to the present. Now was it on the level that Never Say Goodbye was written for Wao Youka? Probably not to that extent. Like I said, I’m only a bit upset but more interested in Tsukigumi’s version. Shows get flipped and re-staged like it’s nobody’s business in Zuka-land anyhow.
Why is no one mentioning Micchan, who will get the Drama City show with the rest of Tsukigumi while MasaChapi are on tour?
Anyway, I’m curious about the casting for both shows, but as I said (many times before today) I’m not that happy about “JIN”.
Seconding bascially this whole post.
I am terribly happy for Micchan, but I am not happy with the JIN revival :/I have an idea that JIN is only for Kei because it is her final show in Takarazuka so I don’t want others to do it again :( (Is it weird?)
No it’s not weird at all. I’m really surprise and a bit upset that Tsukigumi is doing Jin. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great show with great music, but it was Kimu’s Sayonara show. I don’t think it’s often that Sayonara shows get re-staged.
On the other hand, forgive me for squeeling like a little kid hopped on too much sugar, but AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Micchan and Theater Drama City?
Sniff, cries-I’m glad they’re at least giving her a temporary home by having her do two shows back to back with Tsukigumi. It may be because they can’t fit her into another GT/TT show with any other troupe, and the only troupe that would fit her current rotation, Yukigumi, she’s already worked with.

Lolz…Take 5 will be interesting…
In other news Kitagawa Keiko did not faint upon meeting/interviewing Tomu:-). Gosh after her appearance on the talk show (posted on youtube), I worry she would hyperventilate and pass out in Tomu’s arms or something. Gotta love professionalism :-)
Big brother Mattsu and bad-ass Mattsu
I love her role in this show ♥
Neato! You’ve seen all of it then? Hehe Kyotaro is wedged in the middle of almost every relationship in this story isn’t he? Very conflicting character, and a very good role for Mattsu. I love how Yoshimasa-sensei was able to bring so many characters to life in a short time span of 1 hour and 47 minutes.
I have! I remember how you mentioned it’s hard to make short clips of Mattsu in Jin because of exactly this, Kyotaro is a difficult character to isolate out of context. I absolutely loved her portrayal of him, it suits her so well! (Much like Sakamoto suits Chigi hehe)
I was impressed with the adaptation in itself, too! There is so much source material to draw from, so many characters, that it would be easy to go wrong when making it into a play that will be followed by a revue. But I rarely felt like things were rushed or that I didn’t get the chance to develop an attachment to the characters.
Yeah, Yoshimasa-sensei totally understood this story and knew what direction he wanted to take, which begs the question how many times he’s read the manga, but that’s a-whole-nother story :-). Not to mention the beautiful music. Hmmm, I wonder if you know this: does the scriptwriter write the lyrics as well or is that handled exclusively by the composer or songwriter?
